I now have more followers here in the #fediverse than I had on Twitter, still just half of what I had on Google+. Over the years I have learned to not care much about follower count. I care more about interactions that feed my brain with interesting information. And the #Fediverse delivers on that, IMHO. In positive and negative ways. I have learned more about problems I could usually ignore on other platforms due to their algorithm selection. And it is A Good Thing that that doesn't happen here

@jwildeboer yep, interactions are what matters. The follower count gives you a false impression. The follower count is what makes people think their audience is on Twitter because they've accumulated a lot of followers over the years there, but their posts get almost no interactions and views that are <5 % of their follower count.

@sesivany On Twitter I was well aware that a lot of followers were bots. I was also well aware that The Algorithm decided who saw my stuff. Here I know that most of my followers are real people that accept me into their timeline. And that is a humbling experience. At least for me.
