There is no "ideology of childlessness," as Vyacheslav Volodin claims.
The ideology that deserves attention in the attempt to blame women for not having children is the ideology of control of women, of the male right to control women and turn them into child-bearing machines. The ideology at work here is the "right" of men to define who women are and why they exist.
"Ideology of childlessness" = cover for all of the above.

@wdlindsy The ideology of controlling what women 'are'.

Not to detract from your point, which is correct, but there are at least TWO ideologies of childlessness. They can be found on r/childfree and r/antinatalism. -

People are having less kids because there is no advantage of having them. Food, housing, education, and healthcare costs are huge and rising while salaries are stagnant. There is a global rising in racism and hate ideologies. Tech lords' wet dream is to live like gods while the rest of us are barely able to afford food. Bringing people alive to face ecological disaster, discrimination, exploitation, and scarcity is not a sensible decision.

@wdlindsy So much of the old Soviet era lives on in today's Russia: the double speak, denying the obvious, and of course blaming their favorite boogieman, the west.
"Proponents of the legislation described it as a matter of national security, claiming that the arguments against having children are part of a broader effort by the west to weaken Russia by encouraging population decline."
I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that Russia's answer to the same problem of population decline that many nations are experiencing is to start down the path of forcing its people to do what the government wants.

@LazaroDTormes And this is a shift that has gone on over a long period of time, as it became less necessary for parents to have multiple children to work on farms and assure that at least some children would survive to care for the parents in their old age. The attempt of right-wing ideologues trying to control women to connect this to women's liberation is a red herring.

@JustTooOdd Thank you. I agree. This is very well-stated.

@unikitty And the ideology of childnessness rhetoric conflates those two ideologies, making them one and blaming women for it.
-
@Judeet99 Yes: "The ideology at work here is the 'right' of men to define who women are and why they exist."
-
@wdlindsy Let's face it, it's not the only country where this is happening is it?
-
@Judeet99 I don't think the point of that good report linked above is to say this is the only country where this is happening now. The article mentions Vance, and we know that the political and religious right in the US have very strong ties to Putin.
-
@wdlindsy Indeed, and Boris Johnson had/has strong ties to Russia too, as does his latest "wife" who I believe was top knob in the "Friends of Russia" group within the Tory party and which no-one seems to want to report on....

@junesim63 Absolutely. And so close, that Nazi ideal, to what Vance keeps telling us he wants for women.
-
@Judeet99 You're right. I think we can add Nigel Farage to that list, too.
