i initially wrote this for the users migrating away from transfem.social due to the EU->US move, but as i am seeing a lot of people wanting to move around their sharkey accounts i think this is relevant again. i don't care where you're coming from or going to, this is just to educate you on the process. -
I'm not a total asshole, I believe that this network being decentralized is a core part. I will never restrict that process, and I will always try to help those who wish to proceed with it. Documentation regarding account migrations should always remain apolitical imo. (hence why i never recommend instances to go to, just showing two instances i had experience migrating accounts between)

FWIW this is why major defeds get advanced notice so people are free to migrate. That’s something I started doing a while ago.

Turns out, even when you openly encourage people to migrate to another instance that your instance doesn’t immediately die. You shouldn’t have to trap your community for it to thrive.

@puppygirlhornypost2 Honestly, being able to actually migrate instances easily is kinda essential for there to be actual choice. If it was an absolute pain to move instances, people would have way less choice
