The actual reason for this is dementia or whatever frontal temporal disorder he is suffering.

My dad did nearly the same thing right before he died. I kept getting calls from his care facility that women were lining up at my dads door so they could have intercourse with him. My dad was a cowboy and a fireman and fairly attractive, but he also was a horrible sexual deviant. When dementia came to steal his mind from him, the one and only thing he could remember he cared about was getting laid. Evidently there were women at the facility that felt the same way. It got to the point where I couldnt really say or do anything about it since all involved were consenting OLD adults.

One woman's son thought maybe it would be a good idea to put a camera in his moms room------------------the idea was dropped after the first few moments of thinking this through. No one wants to watch their old mom doing it with old guy next door.

The point being; Trump is losing it.

@philip_cardella Yes, I see your point, and it’s a good one. I don’t think Snyder sees Trump as a clown, and I realize you’re not saying that. I think his use of the term “bully” sums up what he thinks of Trump. But your point that we cannot underestimate what the man is capable of, has happened with Hitler, is one we definitely should keep in mind.

@LaNaehForaday Yes, I agree. As your story about your father illustrates, one of the things that goes as the front temporal lobe deteriorates is inhibition. My mother was almost fanatical about what she called modesty. Yet when she developed dementia, and her gerontologist finally convinced me I had to place her in a nursing home, she would sometimes show up nude in the dining room. Her pre-dementia self would have been horrified.

@wdlindsy I disagree with Snyder on some things but there's no doubt he sees Trump as a fascist and Snyder hates fascists.

But he also obviously sees Trump as weak and he's right, Trump is weak.

Yeah, I think his exhortation is spot on.

@anabana Oh, I remember well that he's not president now. I suspect Du Mez does, too. But I think even out of the White House, he's capable of engineering great levels of violence, and it would be naive and irresponsible of us to ignore that possibility and not prepare for it.
