i've often heard the phrase "i'll send a patch" and never realized what it actually meant until now

@mayank @polotek i found this very amusing when i learned it — send a patch predates git. they used to physically patch paper tape and punch cards! which is where i assume git got it from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patch_(computing)#History
