But the real takeaway: this was the first of many wake-up calls that, well, felt like an awakening! Little hints from the universe about what might make my soul happy.

In the next part, I'll talk about the knee injury I sustained way back in 1994 during my time in the US Navy. And how I was forced to lie to the military in order to get discharged.

The injury, my struggle with depression, and my hiking adventures are all connected.

I'm enjoying sharing this story with you all.
