Because some people in #Germany seem to have fallen for the music/film industry's whispering lies: It is perfectly legal for you to rip/copy unprotected music CDs that you get from the library or a friend/family member.

@je5perl The levy is kinda weird. For smartphones it's 12€, for SD cards, regardless the size, it's 0,30€. I tried to find out how much of the around 280 million € that is collected actually gets distributed to artists, but that is not easy to research. Some countries like Finnland actually got rid of similar levies for the reason you gave: it doesn't make a lot of sense anymore.
