If I, a Mastodon administrator, paying for his server with his own money, is telling you this literally happened to me, why won't you believe me?

If I, as a Black man, am telling you that other Black people I have talked to told me the reasons for them leaving Mastodon is because of the harassment and tone policing they have received on the platform, why won't you believe me?
Why do I have to prove it to you that it exists?
Why isn't my word enough for you?

Yea, JFC, prob the saddest phenomenon I’ve seen on social media. Can’t help suspect it’s hard coded into the Fedi though. That this is “the good place” and staunchly “knowing” that to be true is half the point for a lot of peeps being here. The irony being that such staunch belief easily makes it the bad place for many others.
Wouldn’t be surprised this will be the dying legacy of masto. “That doesn’t happen here, I’ve never seen it, go back to your Xitter, we don’t want you”

@maegul @majorlinux It’s why I fight tooth and nail against the narrative that “Mastodon is the nicest social network” It’s nice for while people of nearly all backgrounds and if you assimilate and capitulate. I’m sorry you had to deal with the nonsense. It’s chased so many Black and Brown folks out of these spaces. It’s what pisses me off when I see people criticising users still on #X #Twitter In reality where are people going to go? Cause it sure as hell ain’t the #Fediverse I challenge anyone to research #BlackTwitter and you’d immediately see how at odds it is with how a great deal of people want #fedi and #Mastodon to operate. This space is the last space I want to be involved in some of the greatest social movements of our time, most of them would’ve been DOA
