The only thing I have to say about 9/11 is how it drove our politics insane.
Republicans under Bush saw it as a pretext to enact their imperialist ambitions in the Middle East.
But Democrats got on board to prove their ultra-violent patriotic bonafides and out of sheer bloodthirsty racism and Islamophobia, which continues to drive their foreign policy to this day.
-
And our politics already sucked, obviously. But everybody reacted to 9/11 not as a tragedy but as an opportunity to enact their most violent, rapacious fantasies upon the world.
When the War on Terror finally petered out, it was a huge waste of money, time, and innocent people's lives.
And nobody learned anything.
October 7 became a new opportunity for all involved to unleash their racist, fascist, genocidal id, and they invoked 9/11 as such, as pretext, as justification.

America's reaction to 9/11 and its War on Terror was to treat itself as the poor, bullied, misunderstood white guy who became a mass shooter, to insist it deserved sympathy despite all the thousands of people it killed and the horrific manifestos it issued beforehand.
And that was the end of it, basically.
