Are rotary mixers better than fader mixers?

Are rotary mixers actually better?

Are rotary mixers always ‘better’ by default? Or has the cult of the rotary created a monster? Declan McGlynn investigates

My answer to the question would be another question: "what for?"

As a radio announcer rotaries seemed the better option, easier to spin up and down. But when it comes to mixing music I far prefer long-throw faders.
