Bike maintenance/repair first, replaced shifter cable on the new-to-me Lemond. New cables were $8 each at the LBS. Changing them took only about 20 min (mostly adjustments). One wire was badly frayed, the other rusty and slightly fraying INSIDE the shifter, so glad I decided to do this repair. #BikeTooter

@ai6yr holy crap, is that a normal price where you are? Seems like a lot for a single cable, even the fancy SRAM stainless ones only cost like $3-$5 at the shops around here.

@sam They do have a markup. Probably cheaper if I order it off their website and pick it up, actually. I am definitely paying more than what you'd pay online for stuff there, paying a wee bit of "keep the LBS in business" tax, I like to think of it. Currently employed and not hurting, so
