Visited the strike tent near Hilton Hotel in Waikiki. . Today is Day 44 of the strike. I went and talked with strikers about how disgusting the current policy of Hilton is when it comes to wages and workloads.
The union is calling for higher pay, increased staffing, and the full return of guest services like room service and daily room cleaning.
I told them that I am an active trade unionist back home in Melbourne. And we went on talking about shitty American politics, how workers have been put into the margins and the rising union busting craziness in the US.
They asked if I wanted to do a video recording for them. But I didnt want to take the spotlight off them, so I respectfully declined. I will be back there tomorrow around lunchtime.
