The German wird "Zeug" means "stuff".
And it also was useful stuff for the lazy person who - a long time ago - created these words:
- Flugzeug (fly thing) = plane
- Spielzeug (play thing) = toy
- Feuerzeug (fire thing) = lighter
- Werkzeug (work thing) = tool
- Nähzeug (sew stuff) = sewing kit
- Fahrzeug (drive thing) = vehicle
- Grünzeug (green stuff) = greens
- Bettzeug (bed stuff) = bedding
- Rüstzeug (armour stuff) = equipment
- Schlagzeug (beat thing) = drumsetEnjoy our languagezeug!

Is it similar with words that end with -stück ? I can think of Frühstück, which means breakfast but literally translates as 'early piece'.It is too early in the morning for me to think of other examples...

Prachtstück (precious piece) - something very valuable
Miststück (dung piece) - a curse similar to "bitch"
Glanzstück (shiny piece) - something very valuable
Schmuckstück (jewel piece)- something very valuable
Mundstück (mouth piece)
Kunststück (art piece)

Thanks!In English we use 'mouthpiece' for the part you blow into on a brass instrument .
There is also 'codpiece'!
