FTR (For The Record) — I am staying at home today and tomorrow, printing stuff on my 3D printer, instead of going to the Oktoberfest here in #Munich. Too many viruses and not enough caution over there. I may go to my local beer garden later today as the beer is better and cheaper there

Right now printing some more dry boxes and after that I will print a case for my Lilygo T-Deck. It looks like a Blackberry, but is a LoRaWAN device with a lot of good stuff to explore https://www.lilygo.cc/en-pl/products/t-deck

@jwildeboer you are slowly (not so slowly, really) convincing me that the next thing I should buy is a 3D printer... Not sure of this is a good thing or a bad thing though

@fale Start small. Don't invest a lot of money. Understand that 3D printing can be as simple as downloading files and printing them, but that tends to become a bit boring quite fast. Designing your own parts however comes with quite a steep learning curve and will take you away from the printer for most of the time.
That said: 200€ for a Bambu Lab A1 mini and an additional 100€ for filament, tools and maintenance material will get you really far, IMHO.

@fale I personally don't want to waste resources on printing toys and masks and stuff. That just feels wrong. The stuff I print must serve a purpose. Our world is filled to the brim with stuff no one really needs anyway

@jwildeboer thanks for the suggestion, that is what I was thinking. The biggest doubt I have is about which filament make sense to get from the get go. Any suggestions on this?

@jwildeboer totally agree. Seeing your posts what I continue thinking is: it would be useful to print this or that for my house/work/travel etc

@fale PLA. It's cheap, very forgiving and GoodEnough(tm) for most things. Once you feel comfortable with the basics, you can get a roll of PETG as that material offers quite a few advantages, without being too complicated to handle. Don't bother with ABS or other "evil" plastics. It's not needed anymore.

@fale The problem is: suddenly you walk around with a caliper and a notebook, designing and printing stuff you *really* think you need Go for it And share your designs with the world!
