Sometimes I’m concerned for straight women when they post things like ‘I hit the jackpot with this man I’m dating. But he doesn’t know how to clean and he has skid marks’

The bar is truly in the toilet

@skinnylatte When I went back to app dating, nearly every woman told me they went on a date with me primarily because I A) asked them literally one question, and B) texted more than "sup".
These are not flexes. I am very bad at dating. But somehow I guess a lot of dudes are a lot worse. And apparently they also don't wipe now? Why is any woman straight?
-
@ianrosewrites I’ve learned against my will that some straight men believe that wiping and cleaning their butts make them gay
-
I read just about the whole thread
Apparently this kid was brought up in a cult, and just recently got away from them
I also had a weird upbringing, altho not in a cult
Just about everything mentioned in that thread, I had to learn for myself as an adult
I don't think it's really a gender or sexual preference thing
-
@NilaJones it seems great he’s open to learning things, but as a person who knows so many straight women married to men who are maliciously incompetent, it’s also a very tiring thing to hear about. I know so many people married to ‘good men’ who can’t, won’t, even wash a mug, or care reliably for animals or children. Good for him he found someone who seems to want to help him grow. Social expectations simply favor one group of people in this regard and allow them to be that way.
-
I want to be absolutely clear I want to have a lot of empathy for this man, who seems at least to be wanting to learn, and who seems to have been raised in some kind of cult
But
At the same time, society only allows one group of people to exist when they’re logistically challenged and incompetent for long periods of time, sometimes forever, because other people pick up after them
-
@skinnylatte Yes.
I am reminded of a long article on a recent Fields medal winner, describing in fond terms how clueless the guy was about everyday practical things, and how incensed I felt that no one would have accepted that level of incompetence from a woman, however good at maths.
-
@krazykitty oh yeah the guy who just lies down thinking about maths all day
-
@skinnylatte yes!
-
@krazykitty reminds me of Thoreau, who famously wrote about solitude (while other people did his chores and brought him food)
