Relaunching PeerTube.wtf
-
I am still looking into it but it seems like the Peertube hardware transcoding extension does not support Quicksync by default and you need to use some fork or so.
-
I don't seem to be able to login, it tells me my password and username/email is incorrect.
Do we have to make a new account because the server is new or am I just running into some kind of error?
Also where can we best see updates about this peertube instance is here on Lemmy good or will they be through peertube or is there not really any solid plans for this yet?
I really appreciate the work going into this it seems like peertube.wtf has the goals in mind that I want out of a YouTube alternative!

It was a hit and miss if the video would actually load and running the Sia software took a lot more system resources that I would care for.
-
That shouldn’t be more complicated.
-
I’ll let you know
-
Thanks ️
-
It just means the server doesn’t have a general theme or topic. No gore.
Does the gTLD make you think otherwise?
-
Unfortunately you have to register your account again.
I’ll probably post here on Lemmy, but also via the broadcast function in PeerTube.
Possibly also a Mastodon account at some point.
-
Lol
Usually when a server allows anything, it collects the things other systems block.
-
I’ll look into it.
-
Quick question: do you know if multiple hardware accelerators can be used in parallel? Like a Intel Quicksync and a Nvidia card, or two Nvidia cards etc?
-
I think this is possible with the Remote Runners. You could setup two Runners on your machine, each configured to use GPU1 and GPU2 fx.
-
Ah, good idea. Thanks for the link.
-
How will you monetize?

In the US its definitely not illegal to host a video of people smoking and promoting illegal substances.
In the US its only illegal to possess and sell.

"general use" =/= "allows everything"

By working at my day job.

That doesn't sound self sustaining, but thanks for replying

Monetization does not align with the principles of the Fediverse imho. Donations can help, but I don't believe that's sustainable either. I can do this because I have the time and the money. I wouldn't recommend doing this, if you had to rely on donations or monetization.

I would think many servers that accept donations don't rely on them. But taking donations while it is optional can stave off the time when donations would be necessary.
