I finished another #webdev side project and built the QR code generator of my dreams: :fietkau_software: https://fietkau.software/qr

@julian love this! Am using it with a lot of joy for some talk slides i'm preparing
-
@tomstafford I'm glad! And same here, gonna be showing a final slide with a QR code tomorrow.

@tonymasiello Thank you, I'm glad it's useful!

@julian hey! Thanks so much for this, I'm using QR codes in a couple of different hobby projects and this is also the QR generator of my dreams, too.
I have one quick feature suggestion/request - just something to say how big the image is in pixels (as simple as "33x33" for example), with or without the all-white border. This would be especially useful for planning incorporating QR codes into pixel art.
-
@timixretroplays Heya, glad you like it! Yeah, I think by now I have accumulated enough feature requests for an "advanced options" tab. I'll get to it later in the week hopefully, feel free to remind me if I forget.

@julian @whybird @kimby I came to ask the same question, and after a little searching, I better understand why this isn't as easy as it should be!
This would be useful though, as tonight I screenshot an emoji on my phone, cropped it, then uploaded it, which is a messy workflow.
Here's the best article I found l, just in case it helps. https://fullystacked.net/using-emoji-on-the-web/

@julian This is such a handy tool, thanks!
One small request is to consider a button to switch the colors in any 2-color gradient. It's a small detail, but saves the copy/copy/paste/paste steps.

@earth2marsh @whybird For this project, there is the added complexity of going from text to graphics. Any avenue I can think of to render emoji reproducibly into an SVG element involves significant obstacles that I don't think I'm going to try to tackle. I'll keep in mind that this is something that people want, but the chances are low.

I pushed a feature update for :fietkau_software: https://fietkau.software/qr today.
It has two fun new shape styles, a bunch of added logos ( @pixelfed @joinpeertube @Codeberg @forgejo and more), some advanced options for turbo nerds, and irregularly shaped logos now get better cutouts.
I think this covers most of the feature requests I've received.
-
I loved using this for my talk last week - thanks so much
The option I would vote for is a batch mode, where I can set the style parameters and feed a bunch of URLs and get a bunch of PNGs - the use case being a talk where I want the multiple QR codes with consistent style
-
@tomstafford That sounds doable without too much hassle, sure.
I could nestle a batch mode button in the advanced options. It would ask you to supply a text file with one URL per line and generate a zip file of the corresponding QR codes, all using the current settings.
I'll note that down. No guarantees for this week but I'll try to get it done soon-ish.
