(Why do I say Indonesian / Malaysian / Singaporean? Arenβt those different countries? Yes, but.. where to start
This place in particular is run by Chinese diaspora folks from Kalimantan (Borneo). Who tend to be Teochew or Foochow or Hakka. So this means their food is.. almost exactly the same as Chinese food in Malaysia and Singapore. With some national influences here and there (toppings, condiments). Functionally the same food)

@skinnylatte Wow, that looks stupendous.
-
@strayhorse it would be a good spot I would go to back home as well. Which I donβt say very often
-
The people who work there even said βfor a Singaporean your indonesian is really goodβ
Ahahahahaha represent (I lived in Jakarta for a couple of years and picked up βfood and cussing and motorbike taxi level Indonesian)

3. This place has been on my list for a few years. Tacos Al Vapor El Canelo
Incredible steamed tacos. Get the cabeza or cachete

4. I made the mistake of going to Tsujita Annex. The original Tsujita has really good tsukemen (ramen noodles with soup on the side), and their 'Annex' restaurant specializes in a 'much more umami, fatty' version of the broth.
I think I like porcine things, but even that was.. kind of too much for me. Or maybe my tastes have changed and I no longer like really fatty foods.
Go to the original Tsujita, or go nearby to Menya Tigre for delicious curry ramen instead.

5. I love vegan Mexican food. I love Yucatan food especially. So I was excited to see this spot and had to try it.
It's excellent. Everything is very good. Highly recommended if you're vegan and on the west side of LA.

@skinnylatte what's the deep fried thingy?
-
@blogdiva i think it's like kibbeh in Lebanese food, but Mexican (lots of lebanese food in mexican cuisine). it was called kibbis so i'm guessing that's what it is. functionally the same anyway. it was filled with vegan 'ground fish' and 'ground beef' which was really good actually
-
@skinnylatte ah sorry should have given you the heads up on this one!
-
@wilson you might have said in passing but i wasn't sure haha
-
@skinnylatte grins You're in my part of Los Angeles, just a few miles away. waves!
-
@Chip_Unicorn hi!!!

@skinnylatte I find Annex is also too vinegary for my tastes.
