Over time I’ve learned many adults are missing thinking skills that are assumed to be common sense. These include
• Practicing Empathy or being able to see things from other people’s perspective.
• Understanding cause and effect. If you take certain actions they will cause others to react in often predictable ways.
• Thinking in probabilities instead of assuming things are guaranteed to happen or definitely won’t. You can often increase or decrease the likelihood of events but not guarantee them -
• Introspection or self reflection where you regularly examine your actions and motivations to improve self awareness and personsl growth.
• Focusing on things you can control instead of worrying about things you can’t.All of the above skills help you to better at navigating the world and interacting with others in your personal and professional life. While they may seem like common sense, they are far from commonly practiced by most people.
