Why are furry conventions offering HIV testing to attendees?
Spoiler: It's nothing scandalous or bad. Every once in a while, someone posts this photo on Twitter to attempt to dunk on furries: Midwest FurFest 2018 Over the years, I've seen this discourse play out several times. The people that post this photo usually don't elaborate on why they think this photo is meaningful, they just let it stand alone and expect their audience to fill in the blanks.

Also, if you're wondering "Why are you responding to how people are behaving on Twitter?"
The answer is, I want to make the top Google result answer the question these jerks inspire in their audience, so I sought to address it directly

@soatok "your outrage is my SEO"

@soatok Why would it be even bad, though? HIV is still around and if someone is on a furry convention it may have a chance to test themselves and find out. Sonething which they may not do if they had to arrange a test normally

@soatok One other note for other events: Hosting this service costs the convention nothing. Howard Brown Health approached Midwest FurFest to offer their services free of charge, and since then a couple of other providers have joined in as well. They need function room space and maybe some parking passes, and that's about it.

Omfg, I wish more conventions offer STD testing. This is a brilliant community service

@soatok What a silly question!
Because HIV testing is a fancy tech thing, and furries are good at fancy tech, obviously.
