Some of you may remember (or perhaps they still exist in some misguided schools) wooden paddles on which some fiendish teacher had written “Board of education”. I saw two (and felt one) during my days at Pleasantville Elementary in Pennsylvania.
I was paddled for forgetting a line in my recitation of the “Gettysburg Address”.
The teacher was a sociopath who never should have been allowed near a classroom.
