@whitequark i guess that makes sense in this case but I've certainly found it useful when evaluating apps and doesn't really seem to get in the way?

I maintained an open source Android app once (a decade ago, admittedly!) and the F-Droid developers packaged it for me which might sound like a blessing but
- People complained at me for not pushing updates to F-Droid immediately (that was something the F-Droid maintainers had to do, after building it themselves)
- They were often slow about this
- Oh boy it was “Exciting” to find out about the (lack of) quality of the Android implementatiosn shipped on various non-Google certified devices and the bizzare ways things would fail
