So. Google Groups prevents me from listing a non-Gmail address in the reply-to field for a new post or a reply, so I put my read address in my signature with an apology for the hassle.

I post a message with that signature, and I get a popup from Google Groups warning me to not list other e-mail addresses, and making me confirm that that's what I want to do.
The whole "your Gmail address is your only address" thing is anticompetitive as hell.

@[email protected] @[email protected] (I somehow missed this reply) I really, really am just like, "since independent email servers are locked out of participating by the big ones we should just all run our own fucking email servers and start a second opt-in email network like they do."

@[email protected] @[email protected] Let's find some open source email server, modify the block list code to also enable opt-in uses, then just trust our own non-corporate servers. Fuck em.
Half the shit I get from google and other gmail accounts is trash anyway, it's just crap they paid google to send.
