️ i do inow that there's a ton of pressure on them from ceo to go this low, but still using "Trust and Saftey Team" name and then the sales team forcing worried clients to upgrade is another low…Mastodon will def be better than their non existent Trust and Safety Team

Mastodon (possibly) getting a dedicated Trust and Safety role restores some of my hope for the future of the fediverse.
I think the team has been pulled into too many directions by people asking for some really great and important features, but if you build a network where people don't feel safe, there soon won't be anyone to use those features.
This is a step in the right direction

@stefan It sure takes a bit of hunting to find out if this is legitimate or not. It'd help if the Masto bios of their staff had a verified link to joinmastodon.org , and when they made official announcements they linked to pages on joinmastodon.org.

will the role protect those who speak the truth of what is happening in Palestine?
or will the role side with those who run mastodon social for example, who take down posts and reduce the visibility of anti-genocide accounts?
