A republican strategist on #CNN just said that we need to invite our family members that voted differently from us to Thanksgiving.

To the folks Trump gave a new permission structure to that allowed hate to be acceptable:

I'm not about to forget:

* how you think LGBTQ+ folks shouldn't be allowed to exist.

* how you think racism and xenophobia are ok or even remotely funny.

* how when presented with objective evidence of things he has said/done, you used to try to explain how it was out of context, but now you simply respond with "i just don't care" because you know it's indefensible and that it's unacceptable in ANY context.

Keeping in mind that many of us can no longer talk to said family members for various reasons. Many queer people have simply gone no contact, because years of exacerbation by Trump has made contact with these relatives uncomfortable at best, as he has encouraged them to loudly and openly denounce us for being queer, and violent at worst.

There is a serious problem with division in this country, but at this point, it is being driven entirely by one side. We have made every attempt to reconcile, but we can't reach out any further than we already have: it's Trump supporters who have to come back to us.

And yes, at this point if you're a trump supporter you are one of two things:

1. Racist
2. Too dumb to understand that you're racist

Let them re-earn trust by doing actual community service and redistributing their wealth to undo the harm they did...

Oh, we DO need to move on, and we do need to heal. But that doesn't mean forgetting, or even forgiving. It just means acknowledging that, at the end of the day, we need to move forward, and move on.
