@kissane I have a massive amount of respect for speakers who are normalizing masking that way. I've seen @pluralistic doing that as well.
After picking up a relative recently from the hospital who was receiving antibody infusions for a condition, and observing less of the staff seems to mask now because "personal choice" apparently applies in medical settings, I thank anyone who sets a responsible example.

Hospitals are incredibly bad about it now—even, as you say, in the wards and departments that used to observe basic infection control rules. It's so bad.

@kissane I really appreciated your talk. I'm 26, and really only became a part of the social internet around the time that things started to transition into the hell hole we have today. I've only ever heard the way people talk about the old internet, I was never really a part of things before everything got so corporate and exploitative

@kissane I'm so happy your voice exists in this space, your being involved in these problems gives me hope that people will build better things, and makes me think about the space I inhabit online
I hope that someday I can play a role in building a better internet, but for today I take great pride in being someone who says kind things to the people who I interact with on the fediverse, and gets excited about people's art or cool projects
