Dr. Katharine Hayhoe (@[email protected])
These are the key facts everyone needs to know about climate change, according to @[email protected] : It's real. It's us. It's serious - and already dangerous. But there are solutions. I shared this post across 7 different social media platforms, including FB, LI, Mastodon, Threads, X and Twitter both pre-and post-Musk. Here's how their engagement stacked up. 🧵 https://fediscience.org/@kathhayhoe/113507294720813822

@timbray @kathhayhoe Aren't you both forgetting that Mastodon is (despite it's name) not a monolithic instance, but a network of instances that might or might not share content so what you see and who sees you depends on what instance you are on and which instances that instance federates with? So your milage varies? Posting on a science-instance might get more responses from critical thinkers? And perhaps some instances are full or deniers?

@akafred @kathhayhoe I don’t know if you were deliberately and ironically trying to exemplify the kind of “friendly fire” response that Dr Hayhoe is describing. Congrats if so.
Yes, both of us are quite keenly aware of what Mastodon is.

@kathhayhoe @akafred What’s making me sad is that I never as in NEVER get this kind of gormless nitpicking on my own posts, even when they’re controversial. But just quoting you brought them out of the woodwork. Definitely a culture problem here.
