I recently upgraded the rims and tires on my truck and then realized the other day the sensors no longer worked. After the most recent cold snap, I found the tires all had about half of the air they should have.

Also I find tire pressure sensors notoriously unreliable always best to check yourself periodically!

@briankrebs On my vehicle, the dealer overinflates the tires a little bit for the winter so that the cold doesn’t trip the sensors.

@briankrebs My mother's new car has those sensors, and they're constantly signalling to check tyre pressure, even though there's nothing wrong with it, rendering them completely useless.

@briankrebs like others here, I skipped the sensors when I replaced my rims. They aren't worth the money.

@briankrebs highly recommend switching to nitrogen filled tires. Almost 0 effect from weather changes. Haven't had to fill my tires in ages.
Yes, it can be a hassle if you get a flat, but the QoL improvement is huge.

@briankrebs @CyberSecJsmes Costco does it, local tire shops *might*. Also, if you get a flat just using normal air is not an issue, just worry about replacing it later when you are safely mobile again

@briankrebs as a habit, I top up every two weeks. Having portable air pumps is awesome. Don’t need to rely on tpms even when there’s one.

I have a 2022 and have never had an issue with the accuracy of the TPMS sensors. I find the little "stick" gauges to be hard to use and read. When I need to adjust pressure, I have a digital gauge which seems to work very well and agree closely with what my on-board TPMS reads.
Did the installer not install new or reinstall TPMS sensors?
