and if youre leadership, you should let your staff do this.
it *DRAMATICALLY* improves morale.
and if you think forcing people into an office will somehow 'improve things', what you are signaling is that you are unable to be a manager without the ability to hover over your staff to 'make sure theyre working'.
which.. means .. you may want to consider not being a manager anymore.
measure peoples work by the quality of their work, not their location.

@Viss I was hired remote in 2021 after a "covid" layoff. Not spending 1.5hrs a day on BART (toilet) commuting to SF was a huge blessing. I worked remote until the small company was bought by a large multi-national and dissolved the local I.T. dept. It was the BEST job I have ever had. I still keep in touch my old manager and director, as they were 1000% good people.
Just before the buyout happened, we went through the motions for return to office... Not a single employee reserved desk space. Facilities and management of the company took that at face value and decided to not renew the lease on the building. The company took the hint and converted to 100% remote.
Multi-national buyer came in and said NO, and told people to report to hotel desks in the multi-national's local office. ️ A lot of people quit for good reason.
