Why do I like blue cheese?! Where did I learn to enjoy salt & vinger chips?! Why is sauerkraut on a reuben so good now?! Where did my love for Caesar salad come from?!
It’s confounding. I swear, I used to think all of these things were nasty!

@deadsuperhero It might be how they're prepared too. I used to hate vegetables as a kid because neither my father nor my mother could cook very well and they always assassinated any vegetable they put in a pan, pot, oven, or grill.
Now, as an adult, I fucking love all the vegetables I hated as a kid because it turns out when you go out to eat chefs and cooks usually know how to cook things properly.
And then I learned how to cook things. Properly.
Game changer. -

@gme Yeah man, I was just thinking about this. There’s some scientific explanations for why your tongue changes over time, but another big factor is how something is prepared.
Brussel sprouts and asparagus, in particular, are phenomenal if you sautee them the right way. I had pea soup for the first time not too long ago, not knowing what to expect, and was blown away at how fucking good it was. Totally defied my expectations, 10/10 soup.
