Even before Meta revealed itself (again and again) as a shitty social media platform manager, I scoffed at its fediverse integration because it's never even tried to be a real citizen of the fediverse.

Consider:
- All Fediverse interaction is put in a separate "shame closet". You have Threads posts and then you have those suspicious fediverse posts you've been warned about. And get reminded about, regularly, that you're still communicating with and you might want to stop.
- It's not bi-directional. You can follow Threads accounts. They can't follow you.
- Accounts don't move. You make a Threads account, but you can't migrate off the platform.
- They don't accept reports from the fediverse. There's no integration for that, so unlike every other server you can't report users from the fediverse--you'd need a separate Threads account and have to log in to do that.
- Still weird about nudity and female-presenting nipples. Weird flex if you're going to call yourself part of the fedi.
- How long has it been without a nodeinfo endpoint, Threads?
My gripe is that it doesn't really seem like they are trying. They are building enough features to say "we have fediverse integration" and yeah, they do, kinda, but it's a broken half-implemented thing and with their resources they'd have solved it by now.
If they actually wanted to solve it.
But they fuckin' don't.
