Is there a way to "Open original page" or similar that takes my blocklists into account? (I usually have to open the original page because not all replies federate to my instance.)

@zvavybir unfortunately not. There's no way to have your blocklist federate like that unless you have an account there and copy it over.

@BeAware That not what I meant, sorry for writing it quite weirdly. What I mean is, is there a way for my server to fetch from the original server all posts that that other server knows of and then show them (and then of course blocklists are automatically used)?

@zvavybir ohhh...
My mistake.
Depending on how your instance is hosted, you can use a software called FediFetcher made by @michael
GitHub - nanos/FediFetcher: FediFetcher is a tool for Mastodon that automatically fetches missing replies and posts from other fediverse instances, and adds them to your own Mastodon instance.

To use it, you'd need to have direct access to your Linux CLI, which hosts like Masto.Host don't offer due to it being managed.
Maybe this is what you need?

Actually just to clarify: you donβt need access to your instanceβs CLI. Any machine that can run python will do. I know @paul runs it on his standard windows machine using Task scheduler. Even an Android device would do (though itβs complex to set up)
As such FediFetcher is completely compatible with hosted services like masto.host, and can even be used if you are just a plain old regular user, rather than the admin of your instance

@michael @zvavybir at least you're self aware!
Most don't admit this about themselves.
I will continue to keep tagging you.
For whatever it's worth, if I had more Linux knowledge and confidence that I wouldn't fuck up *something* along the way, I'd totally use it.
I hate having to go to other instances for true replies.
Though, I've somehow managed to work it into my everyday Fedi life. Always check original instance before replying.
I'm glad your software exists so that more knowledgeable folks can get a better view, more seamlessly!

Actually, I completely forgot the arguably easiest and lowest tech way of running FediFetcher:
GitHub Actions. These require no hardware, no installation, and no CLI at all: itβs all point and click at GitHub. Full instructions can be found in the readme:

The main disadvantage is that this way you can only schedule it every 15 min - GitHub doesnβt allow more frequent schedules.
