@RosaCtrl had just enough difficulty getting steam and nvidia drivers working to just not want to touch it at all especially since ubuntu ostensibly has specific support for updated nvidia drivers. also games take up a lot of space and steam has tons of files and i would prefer not to trash my working OS with that

@RosaCtrl no good reason just i managed to get ubuntu working a while ago and i'm scared to fuck around with arch too much especially since if i fuck up an update that leaves me unable to log in to the system i do actual work in

@RosaCtrl if i was a real hacker i'd do it in arch but also like it seems strange to do the work to make proprietary stuff like games work on my open source OS and i would prefer to use an essentially proprietary OS that handles it for me

@[email protected] @[email protected] honestly right now, I'm mostly gaming in Fedora (when not using the Steam Deck). As usual, there's always an extra step with Nvidia, but I don't currently use an Nvidia card so it's basically plug and play.
I want to say I'm surprised at all the trouble you're having, but that's typically my experience with Ubuntu as well. A lot of things are done in weird ways, and that issue has only gotten worse over the years.
