@[email protected] I had to call a real estate broker in NYC to pay them their fee (for their very necessary service of "putting the listing on the internet and letting me find it and deal with everything") and as part of it, he had to run a credit check, and said my credit was fine except apparently something medical had gone to collections and I was like "oh, sure."

agent: "?? oh, sure? you... you have to pay that."

me: "... not really."

still got the apartment.
