How To Write a Good Story That Doesn't Give Me Headaches
Logic, clarity, and making sense are missing more often than they should be.

I think this article on storytelling hits on why I'm not really enjoying Rings of Power. There are so many disconnected storylines (presumably will connect later), making it seem nonsensical.
It feels like a lot of character development is happening off screen, helping the series feel disconnected.
I like this comment from a reader:
“For video games I almost always find myself much more drawn to good world building instead of a good story.” -
In a good world the player becomes the story. Otherwise they are merely an observer (like a reader).
I think this is very evident in Skyrim where a lot of players enjoy the side quests and avoid the main storyline. Because with the side quests you can approach them to your liking. The main story is a railroad.
I had a character in my head, and could act that out when free roaming. The main story clashed with that idea and I couldn’t have known that ahead of time.
