Laptops from System76 and Framework are always advertising that they work well with Linux, but that's NOTHING compared to this.

@gabriel good question!
-
the manual implies that the PCMCIA slot is only for storage. So far it hasn't liked any of the cards I've put in it.
-
and that they'll sell you 4mb or 10mb cards.
those fuckers better not have stuck some kind of crappy DRM on this thing to make them only work with their own cards
-
@foone they know the existence of the Pentium/66 so... 1996 or 1997?
-
okay I got a 10mb drive to work. now to install Doom on it
-
WHAT? 10mb isn't enough for Doom?!
-
@foone I don't think I ever owned this many. Although I did have a rare prize at one point, a Token Ring card, because I needed it to work at IBM in the year of our lord 2001. I don't think we got Ethernet until '04 or so.
-
@the_turtle This program might be newer than the computer
-
@markemer heh. these are just the ones I pulled out of the box.
I have way, way more -
I tried to put disk #2 of Doom onto a spare floppy labeled "BIBLE" for some kind of irony, but the irony was on me: this disk is corrupt
-
HOLY FLORKING SCHNIT THE WEB BROWSER WORKS
-
has anyone made a GEOS mastodon client yet?
-
okay I finally got a copy of Doom on there.
and it doesn't work!
it hangs after the DOS/4GW banner.
-
I think I accidentally deleted the browser
-
okay I found an article about this thing which includes some disk images:
-
some interesting hacking of it here:

@foone Nokia used Geos on their early Communicator phones too. I think until 9210. It was neat to break one into command.com too. Also managed to get a Linux kernel running, but the keyboard had something funky in those and it only worked over serial connection.

@apzpins yeah, I've got some of those! And an HP omniGo which also uses it
