"I will not spend a lot of time here blaming whoever caused this tremendous loss. People everywhere are already doing that.
Assigning blame is useless unless viable solutions are offered and implemented.
That said, here are my top three reasons why we lost the election:"
1. Racism
2. Sexism
3. Misinformation and disinformation~ Pamela Hilliard Owens

Russia has been engaged in a whole bunch of dick-wagging since Trump won the election. That's likely because the last time they helped Trump get elected, he deferred on and then failed to deliver his side of the bargain.

@wdlindsy In my evil vindictive flights of fancy I'm actually looking forward to this.

"Russia appears to be doing what every other entity that helped Trump get elected is doing, as they try to collect on their support: exerting what levers of pressure they have to get their objectives.
It turns out they likely have more levers of pressure — some of which are more powerful now, before Trump’s win is certified — and larger demands than most of the people who helped Trump get elected."

@wdlindsy It was astounding how long people normalised his reign. I well remember the basement of the then Theatre Museum with Vanessa Redgrave and the likes of Litvinenko talking around a documentary about the truth behind the Moscow apartment bombing to trigger the Second Chechen War. Then Politkovskaya's assassination. And people would say, 'you haven't been back to research since 2000, whyever not?'

The liberal left has the answer. We've had pretty much all the answers since Debs was getting votes from a prison cell. The answer to this one? Reconstruction.

The saddest part is that I think that among Trump voters there are more people who really, really want a putinesque figure as the US dictator, than just ignorants and knownothings.

@wdlindsy It's conceivable that Mexico could get so pissed at us that all fresh produc will be routed through California on its way to Canada.

@wdlindsy or…get children to do the work. #Republicans are hell-bent to reinstate child labor.

Melissa Ryan offers readers today a helpful reading list for those seeking resources as we, in this period prior to the man's inauguration ask, "How do we prepare for the road ahead? How and where can we fight back? What do we need to know?"
The list has twelve book titles.

@wdlindsy that is half the issue...the other half is the extreme ignorance, low education, intellectual laziness of huge swaths of the electorate....can't have one without the other.

@LazaroDTormes I very much agree.

@sergiodomeyko Yes. The Russian media's treatment of Trump's wife right now strikes me as a warning that Putin will release more dirt on both of them if he's not a good boy who toes Putin's line.
-
@damkina Indeed. All that child labor market out there just for the picking, to be exploited.
-
@havvyhh2 Yes.

@Nazani That would be something, for sure, if it happened.

@Uair I think we should be inherently suspicious of anyone who claims to have "the" answer, shouldn't we?

@davidpnice I think this is the thing: let tyrants in the making get a foothold, and you'll inevitably see normalization and rewriting of history, along with attempts to distort reality. Fascist regimes demand that as an indispensable essential for sustaining themselves.
