Some differences between Trump and Hitler.
- Hitler ran on his own party in a convuloted multi party system. Trump occupied a (willing) existing party in a two party system.
- Trump has a short attention span and no real goals. Hitler had a plan that he managed to hide until the pieces fell into place
- Trump has himself and the media. Hitler had a paramilitary organisation that terrorised the streets and killed opponents relentlessly.History doesn’t repeat itself. But it has echoes.

@jwildeboer Hitler hid his plans? I'd think much of it he hid in plain sight like for example his book and manifestos etc. of his party?

@project1enigma Those were goals. His plan to kill democracy and get to power with the Ermächtigungsgesetz, with no majority in the parliament, that plan was well hidden.

@jwildeboer The enabling act specifically possibly. But there was a Goebbels speech IIRC that was open enough of ransacking democracy with the tools democracy gave the parties including the Nazi party?

@project1enigma Yes. And these speeches were dismissed by many at the time as being awkward posing. The Weimarer Republik saw many, many fringe groups on all sides of the political spectrum. The Nazis simply were one of them to the public eye.
