My libraries website has a big scary red "Overdue" at the top of the page when you log in, and I have a brief panic moment every time, and then realize it says ": 0" after it. I really wish whomever makes the crappy software that all libraries use (and undoubtably pay out the ass for) would hire a UX person.

@sam I looked into those jobs a while ago and a lot of them are in office only in nowheresville, Ohio or some such. They don't pay great either.

@BreetzTootz yah, I can only imagine; all of these sorts of government services done to the lowest-bidder tend to be that way (they also tend to be written in Java 3 or PHP 5 or something which they're spending more time keeping going than they would if they just re-wrote it), which is a real shame because there's a lot of stuff in that area I'd be interested in working on.
