The botsin.space Mastodon server has been a huge part of the fediverse, and while it's sad it's being retired, I trust that the creative botmaking community will continue to thrive.

ohhhh, i just realized this is probably going wreak havoc over on botwiki too... all those soon to be broken links
-
@Alien_Sunset Yep.
This is one of the reasons Botwiki exists in the first place, to preserve all this creativity, so this is all very bittersweet.
Same when Twitter started to die off.

@stefan One of the first instances I blocked. Can't say I'll miss it.
I want to read words a person wrote, interact with people. The proliferation of nonsense bots ("posts random image of a specific character every hour" etc) on the fediverse just rubs me the wrong way.

@draeath Ah, fair enough. To each their own, I suppose!

@stefan Just out of curiosity, what are the resource requirements of this server? Hard drive space? Processor cores?

@tito_swineflu Oh sorry, that would be a question for @colin, who's the admin, I was just sharing the news!

@dichotomiker Yes, I've had it listed on https://botwiki.org.
The server is running an old version of Mastodon, and the admin hasn't posted in a while, so I'm not too sure how reliable this is.
But thank you for sharing!

@deborahh Yes, @scream is a classic!
Looking at the results of this poll https://mastodon.social/@botwiki/113392856744055218, I think there's a decent chance many of the creative bots will keep running, we'll see!
And I agree, @colin did so much for the creative botmaking community, and the many bot fans, we'll be forever in debt to him.
