@anniegreens I've never understood the point of leaf blowers⦠they're effectively leaf rearranges. I mean... why do they exist?!

@andycarolan I think the sole purpose is to annoy people. But I feel similarly about chainsaws, pressure washers, and wood chippers. So maybe I just don't like loud machinery in a neighborhood.

@anniegreens I can understand that. I use a pressure washer occasionally, but it's effectively away from where most people would hear it. Also, I only use it at socially acceptable times, and when most of my neighbours would be away, at work. They are incredibly noisy things.

@andycarolan @anniegreens The only fair usage, to me, is to get wet leaves off the sidewalk, which with my dyspraxia is helpful lest I wipe out. But thatβs always in general tension with my autistic sensory processing disorder. Portland bans gas-powered ones in a couple of years so that will help. I also have neighbors who use them purely to blow dirt off their driveways and just please no, stop.

@bixfrankonis I can appreciate how dangerous wet leaves can be! They get soooo slippery! Nice to hear that gas powered are being banned. I don't understand why people blow leaves off their driveways rather than collecting and bagging them up for disposal. I mean, one gust of wind and they will just be right back there again lol @anniegreens

@andycarolan @anniegreens The biggest issue for me is that I live across the street from a self-storage place, so the entire block is a cement wall, and they have two guys every week cone through. Again, I appreciate the wet leaves being gone but I get pummeled by the full sound because of the wall.

@bixfrankonis oh right, yes⦠I bet that reflects the sound very effectively! @anniegreens
