Regarding My Health:
I have stage 3 prostate cancer G9(4+5): "high risk". There is no evidence of metastasis, but the insurance company blocked the the modern PSMA PET-CT test that could have definitively answered that question. My care team determined that starting immediate treatment was more important.
Blue Cross stepped in a second time, completely blocking my radiation treatment the day before it was to begin. My doctors appealed, Blue Cross affirmed their denial. My care team filed an emergency appeal to the state governing board using the same study that the Blue Cross cited in the denial. My radiation oncologist told me that the insurance company had apparently not read the study beyond the abstract. The state board overturned the denial in 24 hours.
I completed my radiation treatment just under two weeks ago.
It is now a waiting game. Every few months, a PSA blood test will indicate if my cancer has spread. If so, we move on to plan B. I don't know that that is.

@twobraids oh my goodness! Well, I am very glad you were able to get the treatment, and ALL the giant middle fingers to the insurance company.
