I’m of the opinion that one should check for culture fit at a workplace by asking the question: donuts or bagels and cream cheese for breakfast meetings?

I tried to change my breakfast meeting food to donuts and samosas. There are more of us in team samosa than you think (probably everyone from SE, S Asia)
We feel very oppressed by donut culture
-
Now going for an empanada breakfast meeting, because the person I’m meeting feels similarly!!

@skinnylatte I used to get mine in a place in the Ferry Building. Gosh, they were so good…
-
@skinnylatte What I want are breakfast burrito employers.
-
@skinnylatte I miss having pâté chauds, bánh baos, and cheung fun for breakfast.
S.F. badly needs a proper Vietnamese bakery like Dakao in S.J...
Lee's Sandwiches doesn't cut it. -
@KraftTea I go to Chinatown for freshly steamed cheung fun. But you’re right SF Vietnamese doesn’t have the range of SJ (or SoCal)
-
@Enema_Cowboy I also had that for a breakfast meeting yesterday!

@quephird I go there ALL the time
-
@skinnylatte The magic of empanadas is that you can put just about anything in them that you want and both the curry people and the jelly donut people can be more or less happy given the appropriate empanadas.
-
@crzwdjk yes!
-
@[email protected] Cray used to bring in fresh fruit and bagels.
(mind you, they were Seattle bagels, but it's the spirit that matters) -
@aud @skinnylatte ooooof, Seattle bagels though. they make me so sad.
-
@skinnylatte I think you'll appreciate my favourite local, Fluffy Bake Shop, for their innovations like this Everything Bagel donut with cream cheese filling. It's a revelation, only slightly sweeter than the bagel, just puffier
-
@[email protected] @[email protected] yeaaaaaaaaah. Nothing like, uhhh... round bread.
They did have a jalapeno and cheese one, which, you know, the thing about a flavored 'bagel' is, if the bagel isn't good, the less % bread it is, the better it is. So that one was alright!
Then I'd snack on the fruit all week! Ah, I miss Cray. -
@aud @skinnylatte fr. ever been to Eltana in cap hill? "wood fired bagels"
-
@[email protected] @[email protected] what the fuck
that's just bread -
@skinnylatte another question is how shit is the pizza they order. How cheap and nasty do they go. Just shows how terribly they'll treat you.
-
@aud @skinnylatte and worse, it's not even good bread
-
@[email protected] @[email protected] so we moved from Seattle to Boston, where I had my first not bad bagel? And then we moved to Brooklyn and
even before I had superior bagels, I could tell how not good the Seattle ones were. And now... mmmph. nope.
(also WOOD FIRED BAGELS WHAT) -
@aud @inherentlee SF has sourdough bagels which just makes me so upset
