I’ve been writing about video games for a solid year now, usually about indies and obscurities.

Something strikes me as true: the usual narrative about video game history is wrong.

And the reason it’s wrong is because our culture doesn’t see video games as a significant artform. There’s therefore little inclination to preserve history.

Of those people interested in video game history, they’re not giving us an accurate picture because they have specific tastes and preferences.
