When I go to FOSDEM 2025, I will carry my orange #meshtastic node with me and it will be visible as „FOSDEMeshtastic e99c“. Maybe you do the same (when you have a node, obviously Naming scheme is FOSDEMeshtastic <last 2 bytes of Bluetooth MAC address>. Could be fun to send messages and more! (meshtastic is quite secure and #GPLv3 licensed https://meshtastic.org )
Long thread on my discovery of meshtastic at https://social.wildeboer.net/@jwildeboer/113191557900339340

@jwildeboer I still have a TT-GO T-Watch S76G lying around... any idea how hard it would be to make meshtastic run on that?

@wonka Hm. I only see the S3 watch at https://flash.meshtastic.org so not sure if that works or not

@jwildeboer Why this particular naming scheme?

@oh8hub meshtastic <2 last MAC bytes> is the default naming scheme. Extending it with FOSDEM makes sense to me. And makes changing your node name simple. Just add a few letters to the default name.

@jwildeboer Yeah, I was just wondering why not something like "FOSDEM <your nick>" since people are really bad at remembering hex numbers. Meeting "<your nick>" on chat and then personally might build better contacts!

@oh8hub some people prefer to not share names or nicknames … and saying that I am e99c also has a certain ring to it
