But not .world or .ml? I got an account in both and I didnโt know those places were disliked until I started getting automatic bans only for being in those instances.
Having to read through the entire lore of lemmy and get informed on all the instances and relationships between them seems like a nightmare. You make an account on one instances then after few days you get told that your instance is literally satan and you should switch to a different one. It's like with Linux distros. No mater which one you pick, you chose wrong.
The high drama is as hilarious as it is pathetic.

I don't think defed has been that bad, and I think over time we'll get more features to avoid having to defed (aside from illegal content or spam).
Like users being able to block users and/or communities by instance, or admins being able to set default block lists for new users, or users being able to easily share block lists.
-
Who is 'lemmy' though. Without someone making money there is no motivation to do that.
-
All that does is cost them money for the adds, then increase their running costs by adding users.
It's good for the community, but not great for them.
-
Yeah I got a whole bunch for whatever reason.

And jeans

reddit actually defended the piracy subreddit? lmao
Yep. I made a point to troll then with that at the time.

Are you making fun of autism ?

Unremoval of Piracy Communities - Lemmy.World
Hello World! As weโve all known and talked about quite a lot, we previously blocked several piracy-focused communities. These communities, as announced [https://lemmy.world/post/3234363], were: - [/c/], - [/c/], - [/c/], and their local counterparts as follow up actions. In our removal announcement [https://lemmy.world/post/3234363], we stated that we will continue to look into this more in detail, and re-allow these communities if and when we deem it safe. It was a solid concern at the time, because we were already receiving takedown requests as well as constant attacks, and didnโt want to put our volunteer team at risk. We had zero measures in place, and the tools we had were insufficient to deal with anything at scale. Well, after back and forth with some very cool people, and starting to have proper measures as well as tooling to protect ourselves, we decided itโs time to welcome these communities back again. Long live the IT nerds! We know itโs been a rough ride with everything, and weโd like to thank every one of you who were understanding of us, and stayed with us all the way. Please know that as users, you are what makes this platform what it is, and damned we be if we ever forget it. With love, and as always, stay safe in the high seas! Lemmy.world Team โค๏ธ

Apparently it once was but was unblocked

Later on there was drama because they blocked it a second time anyway. xD

I thought Heinz was the gold standard in the UK. I must try the Branston ones. Flippin' love that pickle.
Don't think I've ever seen them in the supermarket in Ireland but my sister's visiting from the UK on Sunday so I think I'll place an order.
I find Heinz beans a bit watery. I prefer the supermarket own brands to Heinz... Branston's are much better and tastier, with a thicker sauce. Still, YMMV and all that jazz.
Oh, I forgot an annoying trivial issue: the Heinz cans don't stack up well (lock into place with one can on top of another).

Arrrr! Welcome aboard, ye scallywags!

It's still commercial, proprietary software

Announcement stands at a high number of downvotes. The people have spoken, the admins did not listen.

Tell me one single instance of .would admins not just copying reddit in terms of being a shit instance.

I don't think I've ever seen any other post with 2000 downvotes and -1000 overall score. Those numbers are really big. But at the same time LW has way too many users and communities on them so I can understand them not wanting to play legal games on top of that regardless of factuality. It's a free platform and changing instances is easy (as long you don't have communities to move).

Guess I am one of the 536 newbies hahahaha!
Welcome! If you have any questions about the fediverse or piracy in general, feel free to post or shoot the community some questions in this thread. We're glad you made the switch!!!

That'll teach em! You can't just sign up, first you gotta read some 20 minute long post from gnu.org
Nobody is forcing you but you should really consider investing 20 minutes in learning how lemmy is different. You may think it's not that serious but look at where popular centralized platforms are heading to, now that bad actors are taking full control the problem cannot be ignored

It has felt GREAT at lemmy. Lot of content and great discussions. We don't NEED more people. Yes, more people bring more diversity and that will help a lot. The one downside for lemmy is that it doesn't have all the niche groups that reddit does but that takea time. Lemmy is maturing amazingly imo.

:motions at trillions of times people that signed up for Fb, Ig, Twit, TkTk, etc/everything without reading the Terms of Service:
