Wait. What? You can make pagers explode remotely?

#hezbollah used #lowtech #pagers because they worried their #communications #comms could be snooped on or spoofed by #idf
apparently they'd get new pagers periodically (from #iran) so #israel couldn't map the #pager #network over an extended period of time
so idf did a #supplychain attack
replaced their new pagers
absolutely diabolical and stunningly effective
straight out of a movie plot
hand amputations, facial and groin injuries
targeted to thousands of hezbollah fighters

@benroyce @GayDeceiver one downside is that no oneโs ever going to be allowed to take any kind of electronic device on an airplane again.

@SoGeneris @benroyce @GayDeceiver that is why on airports they do chemical tests for explosives and do CT scans.
-
@samueljohn @SoGeneris @benroyce @GayDeceiver which raises the question why none of these pagers were detected, apparently. Like, it's hard to believe that not a single person with one of these flew recently.

@smellsofbikes @samueljohn @SoGeneris @benroyce @GayDeceiver I would guess it's impossible that these weren't on any planes recently. This situation is so surreal
