I love this pic I took of the avocet this morning. I went to the aviary this morning before we opened and I had the whole place to myself

@northernlights Monterey. I work there
-
replied to Adrianna Tan last edited by
@skinnylatte If I wasnโt too blind to safely go diving, Iโd want to jump in there
-
replied to Adrianna Tan last edited by
@skinnylatte Massive! We were there a few months ago. What an extraordinary place!
-
replied to schrotthaufen last edited by
@schrotthaufen they do have diver volunteers who clean tanks and feed fish
and a program to teach scientific diving to kids here

@skinnylatte @northernlights I have been there! (October 201.) Wonderful place. Not every aquarium has room for Sun Fish!
-
replied to NormanDunbar last edited by
@NormanDunbar @northernlights we donโt have a sun fish anymore but we have a sun fish costume

@skinnylatte Tank is big.
For a couple years when I was itty bitty my life's ambition was to be the scuba guy in there. Still a daydream of mine...

The round blob in the top center is a southern sea otter frolicking by herself
-
replied to humanadverb last edited by
@humanadverb thereโs a dive volunteer program to clean the tanks, but the line is long

@skinnylatte my former law firm hosted its annual attorney retreat in Monterey every couple of years (we rotated between there, Tahoe, and Napa). we would always have a private Friday night dinner at the Aquarium. Standing by that tank, mildly buzzed, when itโs not crowded was magical.

@eniatitova hehe, I sit near the people who plan these events for companies. They started doing yoga by the open sea exhibit too
