Why do the media fail us repeatedly as we seek salient information about significant topics discussed in the public square? A huge part of the problem, Parker Molloy reminds us, pointing to the trans discussion, is who the media listen to, let into the conversation, permit to have a voice. Speaking as a trans person, Molloy writes:
"We're everywhere in the coverage, but nowhere in the conversation."
So much easier to talk at and about people.
The Media's Trans Problem: Everyone's Talking About Us, No One's Talking To Us
As trans people become central to political debates, our voices remain glaringly absent from the conversation.

@wdlindsy The media are wholly owned by major corporations. There are few liberal voices in MSM. Watch DemocracyNow, read ProPublica, CommonDreams, Alternet, DailyKos if you want a more balanced view.
