It is with a very heavy heart that @beardedtechguy and @cliffwade are having to make this announcement, however, it's something that needs to be done. Unfortunately we are going to need to shut down AllThingsTech.social, the Mastodon instance and the blog.
There are several reasons for this, but the biggest reason is the fact that we simply don't have the funds to continue paying the server fees associated with it any longer. (continued...)

With regards to the AllThingsTech Discord server, that will remain functional as we have a great little community there and we'd love to keep that as a place for all of us to keep in contact and continue having the great conversations that we have currently. We might restructure it a bit, but we'd love for all of you to remain a member of the Discord if you desire. (continued...)

This means that everyone needs to either migrate to a new instance and/or download their data content to find a new home at a later date. If you need any help moving to another instance, please let us know as we'd be happy to help in any way we possibly can.
For those of you who have content on the AllThingsTech.social blog, you'll have until February 28th to download your posts from the WordPress if you wish to put them somewhere else. (continued...)

Due to this, we realize users are going to need to find a new home on the Fediverse and we want to give you as much notice as possible. While it's not as long as we'd hope, the last day that the Mastodon instance will function is February 7th, 2025. On February 8th, 2025, the AllThingsTech.social Mastodon instance will officially close down. (continued...)

Again, this is not a decision we take lightly and not something we really want to do, but it's something that we know is for the best at this time.
